Mild hybrid electrification advances the 221-hp 2.0L inline-4 turbo engine. Its 48-volt architecture and a belt-driven Starter-Generator allow fuel-free coasting, and can recapture energy during deceleration. It can also supply up to 13 hp and 110 lb-ft of torque for added response on demand. And the gasoline engine is further enhanced with a more efficient turbocharger, CAMTRONIC variable valve lift, and friction-reducing CONICSHAPE cylinders with NANOSLIDE walls.

Hybrid Starter-Generator

Electrifying the inline-4 gasoline engine is an innovative belt-driven Starter-Generator (RSG). It can generate a brief burst of 13 additional, gas-free horsepower, for even more enthusiastic yet efficient response. It also teams with the car's 48-volt electrical architecture to support gliding, recuperation and stop/start functions to seamlessly enhance efficiency.

8G-DCT 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission

The 8-speed transmission combines the sporty response of a manual, the easygoing refinement of an automatic, and exceptional efficiency. Dual clutches offer quicker gear changes than a human can shift a traditional manual gearbox, while three overdrive ratios boost highway efficiency. The ECO, Sport and Comfort modes of DYNAMIC SELECT let you favor fully automatic efficiency and comfort, intensified response, or shift-for-yourself excitement via the steering wheel-mounted shift paddles.

DYNAMIC SELECT

A multimode drive program selector on the console lets you transform the car's character with the touch of a button. Three modes (ECO, Comfort and Sport) alter the throttle response, shift points and steering effort, and ECO Start/Stop. A fourth "Individual" mode allows you to create a mode of your own, even letting you set the transmission for purely manual shifting.

The all-LED taillamps feature a three-dimensional design with a distinctive family resemblance.

10.25-inch digital instrument cluster display

A 10.25-inch high-resolution color screen in front of the driver offers customizable instrumentation. Three selectable designs, Classic, Sport and Discreet, combine analog-style gauges with digital and graphical readouts. They all also incorporate a large multifunction screen with illustrated and animated menus, plus readouts for vehicle information, feature settings and driver-assistance systems. It's easy to scroll through the menus via the left steering-wheel Touch Control Button.

2nd-row center armrest with dual cupholders

The roomy 3-passenger 2nd-row seat includes a center armrest for added comfort when only one or two passengers are riding along. Built-in cupholders are included.

Auto-dimming driver-side and inside rearview mirrors

As sensors on the inside mirror detect the headlights of vehicles behind you, both the inside and driver-side mirrors gradually darken to reduce reflected glare. To help maintain your rear vision, dimming is automatically canceled when you shift to Reverse or if an interior light is switched on. As standard equipment, the side mirrors are also automatically heated to help disperse mist and fog.

Dual-zone automatic climate control

Separate left and right temperature controls allow the driver and front passenger to enjoy personalized comfort. In addition to fully automatic or manual control of blower speed and airflow distribution, the system includes a dust and pollen filter that helps keep particles as small as 5 microns from entering the cabin. Five adjustable vents in the dash and a pair of rear-cabin air vents help maintain passenger enjoyment throughout the cabin.

ATTENTION ASSIST

The first system of its kind, ATTENTION ASSIST^® continuously monitors up to 70 parameters of driving behavior, and can automatically alert the driver with both visual and audible warnings if it detects signs of drowsiness on long trips. With enhanced sensitivity, the system can also help detect drivers who begin their trip drowsy, and offer more useful information to drivers along their journey via a dashboard display.

Adaptive braking technology

Adaptive braking technology integrates a suite of advances. If you lift off the accelerator quickly, Predictive Brake Priming can set the pads closer to the discs for more immediate response when you apply the brakes. In the rain, Automatic Brake Drying can periodically apply the brakes just enough to sweep water build-up from the discs. During uphill starts, Hill-Start Assist can help prevent unwanted rollback. And a brake HOLD feature can make long red lights or stopped traffic a little easier.

Blind Spot Assist

When traveling above approximately 20 mph, radar technology can help sense when a vehicle enters the blind-spot area. Blind Spot Assist can then alert the driver via an illuminated red icon in the appropriate side mirror. An audible warning sounds if the driver activates a turn signal while a vehicle is detected in the blind spot. After parking, Exit Warning Assist can alert the driver or passengers to vehicles, cyclists or pedestrians that could be at risk if the door is opened.

Advanced Tire Pressure Monitoring System

The Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) can automatically detect a substantial loss of tire pressure in any wheel and alert the driver via a warning message in the multifunction display. The advanced TPMS can also display the numeric tire pressure for each mounted wheel.
