AMG-enhanced 3.0L inline-6 turbo engine with hybrid assist

The seamless power and natural balance of an inline-6 have returned with another Mercedes-AMG tradition: a technological leap forward. The lightweight, fully beltless engine is also electrified: An Integrated Starter-Generator can supply up to 21 hp and 184 lb-ft at certain rpm, allow gas-free coasting, and recapture energy during deceleration. With a twin-scroll turbo, the gas engine outputs 429 hp and 413 lb-ft of torque on its own, for quick, efficient response.

AMG SPEEDSHIFT TCT 9-speed transmission

Specific AMG programming of the 9-speed automatic transmission delivers quicker gear changes in the paddle-shifted Manual mode. In the Comfort, Sport and Sport+ modes of AMG DYNAMIC SELECT, the wide range of closely spaced ratios offers an ideal blend of smooth, efficient performance in virtually every driving situation, from relaxed cruising to quick acceleration. Three overdrive ratios further enhance highway fuel efficiency.

"Transparent Hood" display

In the TBD mode of AMG DYNAMIC SELECT, an OFFROAD dash display can show your steering angle, tilt angle, grade percentage and more, as well as a clever virtual "Transparent Hood" feature. Composing views from the exterior cameras on the center display, it can show underneath the vehicle at speeds to 5 mph, and the view ahead up to 12 mph.

AMG DRIVE UNIT

A set of controls on the AMG steering wheels lets you adjust performance settings quickly and easily, with integrated color displays to confirm your selection. The left switches can be assigned to functions such as the Manual shift mode, the damping modes of AMG RIDE CONTROL+, the 3-stage ESP, and the AMG Performance Exhaust System. The right round control knob selects and displays the driving mode of AMG DYNAMIC SELECT.

Unlike most anything else on the road, or off, the soul of the AMG GLE 53 Coupe is apparent in the newly toned muscle of its body. From its boldly redesigned LED lighting, AMG grille and front apron to its standard 21-inch wheels and sweeping roofline, its athletic stance is brought to life on any road. A subtle lip spoiler and deep diffuser leave a lasting impression as you pass more ordinary vehicles.

Illuminated running boards

Stylish and functional running boards ease your entry and exit while providing a rugged element of design. Grippy rubber studs dot the running boards, for a surer step even in inclement weather. And elegant, seamlessly integrated LED illumination of the step area helps to light your way aboard.

AMG Night Package

The front splitter and "A-wing" trim in the front apron are finished in deep gloss black, as are the side mirror housings, side window surrounds, and rear apron trim. Black chrome tailpipes complete the transformation.

Power front seats with memory

Power front seats feature intuitive, seat-shaped controls on the door, plus a 4-way power lumbar support. To set and save your ideal driving position, a memory system for each front seat recalls three stored positions for the seat, plus the positions of the 4-way power steering column and side mirrors for the driver.

Power liftgate

For added convenience in the rain or with an armful of packages, you can fully open and close the liftgate via a switch on the driver's interior door panel or a button on the SmartKey remote. Press a button on the driver's door or the underside of the liftgate and it powers itself closed. A sensor automatically stops the liftgate if it detects an obstruction, and you can set the system to limit the opening height, useful under low ceilings.

Remote Start via Mercedes me connect Mobile App

The Remote Start feature lets you start your car's engine from the Mercedes me connect Mobile App on your smartphone. In extreme weather, it's a great way pre-condition the cabin comfort by giving the climate control up to a 10-minute head-start on your arrival. It's included with your Mercedes me connect services.

Dual-zone automatic climate control

Separate left and right temperature controls allow the driver and front passenger to enjoy personalized comfort. In addition to fully automatic or manual control of blower speed and airflow distribution, the system includes a dust and pollen filter that helps keep particles as small as 0.0002-inch from entering the cabin.

Nappa leather upholstery

Buttery-soft, smooth-grain Nappa leather is hand-fitted to the seating surfaces and head restraints. As an elegant complement, the upper dash and door trim are topstitched in leatherlike MB-Tex.

12.3-inch touchscreen multimedia display

A widescreen color display with multitouch interface makes it easy to access a world of features, including audio, MB Navigation, phone and vehicle settings. Active Brake Assist

Radar-based technology can alert you if you're approaching a vehicle ahead, or even some stationary objects, at a speed and distance that suggest a collision is likely. As soon as you start to brake, it can automatically provide an appropriate level of braking to help prevent a collision or reduce its severity. If you fail to respond, it can also initiate braking automatically at a range of driving speeds. The system can also help detect and react to crossing pedestrians at typical city speeds.

ATTENTION ASSIST

The first system of its kind, ATTENTION ASSIST^® continuously monitors up to 70 parameters of driving behavior, and can automatically alert the driver with both visual and audible warnings if it detects signs of drowsiness on long trips. With enhanced sensitivity, the system can also help detect drivers who begin their trip drowsy, and offer more useful information to drivers along their journey via a dashboard display.

Car-to-X Communication

In the future, cars will be able to communicate with each other over the airwaves. In the GLE, the future starts today. With its industry-leading Car-to-X Communication, every new GLE can automatically alert a central notification system of certain dangers, from detected wheelspin to the use of hazard flashers or even windshield wipers. The system can then alert other drivers with Car-to-X via in-dash displays or announcements, allowing precautions to be taken before reaching the hazard.

PRE-SAFE

A Mercedes-Benz first, PRE-SAFE^® can detect instability during certain vehicle maneuvers that suggest a collision or rollover is imminent. It can then tighten the front seat belts, adjust the front passenger seat, and close the windows and sunroof, all in an effort to better prepare the occupants and restraints in the moments before a collision. If no accident occurs, the seat-belt tensioners reverse, and you simply readjust your seat, open the sunroof and continue on your way.
