8G-DCT 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission

The 8-speed transmission combines the sporty response of a manual, the easygoing refinement of an automatic, and exceptional efficiency. Dual clutches offer quicker gear changes than a human can shift a traditional manual gearbox, while three overdrive ratios boost highway efficiency. The ECO, Sport and Comfort modes of DYNAMIC SELECT let you favor fully automatic efficiency and comfort, intensified response, or shift-for-yourself excitement via the steering wheel-mounted shift paddles.

2.0L inline-4 turbo engine with mild hybrid drive

Mild hybrid electrification advances the 221-hp 2.0L inline-4 turbo engine. Its 48-volt architecture and a belt-driven Starter-Generator allow fuel-free coasting, and can recapture energy during deceleration. It can also supply up to 13 hp and 110 lb-ft of torque for added response on demand. And the gasoline engine is further enhanced with a more efficient turbocharger, CAMTRONIC variable valve lift, and friction-reducing CONICSHAPE cylinders with NANOSLIDE walls.

Front-wheel drive

The GLA front-wheel drive system is an ideal match for its nimble handling and efficient packaging. Impeccable calibration of the Electronic Stability Program (ESP) and Electronic Traction System (ETS) enhances tire bite under hard acceleration, while equal-length driveshafts virtually eliminate undesirable torque steer.

DYNAMIC SELECT

A multimode drive program selector on the console lets you transform the car's character with the touch of a button. Four modes (ECO, Comfort, Sport and Off-Road) alter the throttle response, shift points and steering effort, and ECO Start/Stop. The Off-Road mode also sets the front-rear torque split to 50:50, and adapts the ABS, ESP^® and more. A fifth "Individual" mode allows you to create a mode of your own, even letting you set the transmission for purely manual shifting.

Whenever the front wipers are on and you shift to Reverse, the rear-window wiper can sweep automatically to clear your view out the back. The wiper can also be switched on to its intermittent setting at any time by the driver, and includes a washer.

10.25-inch digital instrument cluster display

A 10.25-inch high-resolution color screen in front of the driver offers customizable instrumentation. Three selectable designs, Classic, Sport and Discreet, combine analog-style gauges with digital and graphical readouts. They all also incorporate a large multifunction screen with illustrated and animated menus, plus readouts for vehicle information, feature settings and driver-assistance systems. It's easy to scroll through the menus via the left steering-wheel Touch Control Button.

Five USB-C ports

State-of-the-art USB-C connectors allow plug-and-play enjoyment from your compatible devices as well as fast charging of your phone. With no fewer than five ports in the front and rear of the center console, there's a port within reach of every passenger.

64-color LED ambient lighting with illuminated vents

A network of LEDs let you create cabin ambience to suit your mood. Edge-lighting outlines the dash/door trim and console, while casting a glow in the dash vents, footwells, door handles and door pockets. Along with 64 selectable colors, three cabin zones and adjustable brightness, numerous programs let you enjoy two colors at once, and either static or slowly changing hues. A "light show" greets your arrival, while the dash vent lighting briefly acknowledges your climate-control adjustments.

Dual-zone automatic climate control

Separate left and right temperature controls allow the driver and front passenger to enjoy personalized comfort. In addition to fully automatic or manual control of blower speed and airflow distribution, the system includes a dust and pollen filter that helps keep particles as small as 5 microns from entering the cabin. Five adjustable vents in the dash and a pair of rear-cabin air vents help maintain passenger enjoyment throughout the cabin.

KEYLESS-GO

A leap in ease and efficiency pioneered by Mercedes-Benz, KEYLESS-GO^® lets you unlock, start and drive away without removing the SmartKey from your pocket or purse. Rearview camera

For a better view of what's behind your vehicle when reversing, a high-resolution camera can display a live view on the central in-dash screen. Steering-dependent active guidelines on the screen can help you back into a parking space, and you can select between wide-angle and even wider 180-degree views.

Advanced Tire Pressure Monitoring System

The Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) can automatically detect a substantial loss of tire pressure in any wheel and alert the driver via a warning message in the multifunction display. The advanced TPMS can also display the numeric tire pressure for each mounted wheel.

Blind Spot Assist

When traveling above approximately 20 mph, radar technology can help sense when a vehicle enters the blind-spot area. Blind Spot Assist can then alert the driver via an illuminated red icon in the appropriate side mirror. An audible warning sounds if the driver activates a turn signal while a vehicle is detected in the blind spot. After parking, Exit Warning Assist can alert the driver or passengers to vehicles, cyclists or pedestrians that could be at risk if the door is opened.

An advanced system of seven air bags offers 10-way occupant protection. Standard are two-stage front air bags and side-impact air bags for the driver and front passenger, a driver's knee air bag, plus side curtain air bags for both seating rows.
