Handcrafted AMG 2.0L inline-4 turbo with hybrid assist

The first "43" engine handcrafted in the AMG "One man, one engine" tradition applies technology from Formula 1^® racing to advance performance with efficiency. A pioneering electric exhaust-gas turbocharger and Integrated Starter-Generator team with advanced fuel injection, friction reduction and multi-level engine cooling. The result is V8-worthy output of 416 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque from a compact, lightweight and decidedly modern 2.0L 4-cylinder engine.

Electric exhaust-gas turbocharger

The GLC 43's electric exhaust-gas turbocharger is derived from the race-winning technology of the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula 1^® team. A thin 48-volt electric motor, integrated directly on the shaft between the turbine and compressor wheels, can accelerate the compressor before the exhaust-gas flow takes over. The innovative 175,000-peak-rpm turbo helps maintain boost pressure and improve engine response from idle to high rpm, even when the driver lifts off the gas.

4-wheel Electronic Traction System (4-ETS)

Incorporated with 4MATIC^® all-wheel drive is the 4-wheel Electronic Traction System (4-ETS^®). Pioneered by Mercedes-Benz, it can monitor for the first sign of wheel slip and respond to ensure torque is sent to the wheels with the best grip, even if that's only one wheel.

AMG DYNAMIC SELECT

AMG DYNAMIC SELECT lets you dial in the car's performance character via cockpit controls. The system offers Comfort, Sport, Sport+ and Slippery modes, plus an Individual mode you can configure a la carte. Each mode includes settings for the engine and throttle response, shift timing, ESP, suspension, exhaust sound, ECO Start/Stop system, steering and more.

Digital instrumentation can be customized. The portrait-style central touchscreen is angled to favor the driver. Options include a Head-Up Display with AMG readouts, and AMG Track Pace for recording track times.

40/20/40-split folding rear seats

The rear seatbacks fold down in a 40/20/40 split, offering a variety of cargo and passenger configurations. You can also fold the center section independently, to fit longer items like skis between two rear passengers. Electric releases let you fold the seatbacks down with the touch of a button, while a 10° steeper seatback setting can let you accommodate larger cargo while still seating rear passengers.

USB-C charging port

A state-of-the-art USB-C connector in the center console allows plug-and-play enjoyment from your compatible devices as well as fast charging of your phone. Providing 15W maximum combined power, it's also suitable for data transfer with the vehicle. A 12V power outlet is also provided at the front of the console.

Wireless Android Auto

Wireless Android Auto brings its own interface and exclusive apps to your car's in-dash screen and cockpit controls. Smartphone integration lets you enjoy a variety of audio, entertainment and communication apps via an interface that looks and works like your Android phone. Since it links your phone, including the power of Google voice recognition, to your car without plugging it in, you can make calls, hear or dictate text messages, navigate to a destination, stream music and more.

FrontBass system

A leap forward in audio quality, FrontBass takes advantage of the GLC bodyshell by utilizing the rigid front frame members as resonance chambers for an under-dash subwoofer. Brake Assist (BAS^®) can sense emergency braking via the speed at which the driver presses the brake pedal and immediately apply maximum available power boost. Brake Assist can potentially reduce the overall stopping distance by eliminating the delay caused by a common human tendency not to brake hard enough, soon enough. Letting up on the brake pedal releases Brake Assist.

GUARD 360° security system

GUARD 360^® offers enhanced vehicle security beyond the standard antitheft alarm. It can help detect if your parked vehicle experiences certain impact types likely to cause damage. It can push a damage notification to your phone via the Mercedes me connect app, and display a message next time you start the car. And if equipped, the available Surround View cameras can also take time-stamped images around the car's exterior, which you can view on your phone or in the car's multimedia display.

Blind Spot Assist with Exit Warning Assist

When traveling above approximately 8 mph, radar technology can help sense when a vehicle enters the blind-spot area. Blind Spot Assist can then help alert the driver via an illuminated red icon in the appropriate side mirror. An audible warning sounds if the driver activates a turn signal while a vehicle is detected in the blind spot. After parking, Exit Warning Assist can alert the driver or passengers to vehicles, cyclists or pedestrians that could be at risk if the door is opened.

7 air bags

An advanced system of 7 air bags offers 9-way occupant protection. Standard are dual two-stage front air bags and combined thorax/pelvic bags for the driver and front passenger, plus a knee air bag for the driver, and side curtain air bags for both seating rows.
