Engineered to balance crisp response with smooth composure, the 4-wheel independent suspension of the B-Class Electric Drive features a combination of MacPherson struts and wishbones up front, with a four-link design at the rear. Sporty yet supple spring and damping rates, along with rigid yet lightweight components, team up to deliver precise wheel control and reassuring feedback in all conditions.
The B-Class front-wheel drive system is an ideal match for the car's sporty demeanor and efficient packaging. Impeccable calibration of the Electronic Stability Program (ESP®) and Electronic Traction System (ETS®) enhances traction under acceleration, while the compact powertrain design also allows for generous cabin and cargo space.
Advanced electromechanical power steering delivers quicker response in corners, easier maneuvering at low speeds, along with precise on-center feel and straight-line stability.
A first in an Electric Vehicle, radar-based technology monitors the speed of the vehicle ahead and its distance. As you adapt your driving speed to the flow of traffic, the system automatically adjusts the car's regenerative braking to recuperate as much energy as possible, extending the driving range of the battery. A pair of paddles behind the upper steering-wheel spokes also lets you manually select from three recuperation levels, from gliding to maximum, with just a flick of your fingers.
Taut, flowing sculpture wraps the advanced B-Class Electric in a roomy yet aerodynamic body. Sporty wheel arches and side sills accentuate the confident handling of its the low center of gravity. Short overhangs and a sloping hood prioritize its spacious, 5-passenger cabin and cargo versatility. And from its iconic grille to its redesigned taillamps, it carries all the presence and prestige of its Mercedes-Benz family. So while some EVs tend to stick out, the B-Class elegantly stands out.
Aerodynamically designed 17-inch alloy wheels feature 10 flat spokes in a configuration that optimizes airflow for peak efficiency and brake cooling. With a lustrous silver finish, the wheels convey the sporty handling and advanced high-tech powertrain of the B-Class Electric Drive. They're fitted with all-season Extended Mobility tires.
Internet-based access to a number of useful and convenient features puts enjoyment and control of your B-Class Electric Drive as close as your computer or tablet's Chrome™ or Safari® browser. Along with user-defined shortcuts, favorites and preferences, the Vehicle Homepage provides Web-based access to many vehicle features, including charge status and profile, climate control, ECO scores, driving range on a map, and a charging station finder.
The B-Class is developed to provide a level of occupant well-being unique in the industry. It's the only vehicle in its class certified by the European Centre for Allergy Research (ECARF). From its cabin materials to its climate control filtration systems, countless cabin components are extensively evaluated in the lab and real world. Production approval depends on their ability to minimize their effects on occupants' allergies and other respiratory ailments and skin-contact sensitivities.
All new Mercedes-Benz vehicles are protected by our New Vehicle Limited Warranty, covering defects in material or workmanship for 48-months or 50,000 miles, whichever comes first. For added protection, the Mercedes-Benz Extended Limited Warranty offers continued peace of mind with prolonged coverage tailored to your needs.
COLLISION PREVENTION ASSIST PLUS uses radar-based technology to help detect an impending collision with a vehicle ahead, or even some stationary objects, based on your speed and distance. In addition to alerting the driver, its Adaptive Brake Assist with autonomous braking can automatically apply up to 100% of the car's braking force in certain situations, to help prevent a collision or reduce its severity.
Arguably our most important passive safety feature, all four outboard 3-point seat belts are equipped with Emergency Tensioning Devices (ETDs) and belt force limiters. If a collision exceeds a preset threshold, ETDs instantly remove slack from the seat belts. Belt force limiters allow a slight amount of give in the seat belts, to reduce the peak seat-belt forces on the occupant.
