2.0L Inline-4 Turbo Engine

A new 255-hp 2.0L inline-4 turbo engine combines numerous advances to deliver more power from less fuel. Its rapid-multispark ignition and high-pressure Direct Injection can fine-tune themselves every few milliseconds to optimize performance, efficiency and emissions. An intercooled twin-scroll turbocharger and CAMTRONIC variable valve lift help deliver all of the engine's 273 lb-ft of torque from just 1,800 rpm, for vigorous response when taking off, merging or passing.

9G-TRONIC Automatic Transmission With Shift Paddles

With a greater range of ratios and shorter steps between gears, the 9-speed automatic changes gears more quickly yet more smoothly, too. The lighter, more versatile transmission enhances quiet riding comfort and fuel-efficiency. The electronic selector and shift paddles let you control all gear changes with your hands on the steering wheel. And drivers can vary the shift modes via the innovative DYNAMIC SELECT system.

DYNAMIC SELECT

A multimode drive program selector on the console lets you transform the car's character with the flip of a switch. Four modes (ECO, Comfort, Sport and Sport+) alter the throttle response, shift points, steering effort, and ECO Start/Stop system. A fifth "Individual" mode allows you to create a mode of your own, even letting you set the transmission for purely manual shifting.

Torque Vectoring Brake

Standard Torque Vectoring Brake technology provides additional control and precision in turns via targeted rear-wheel braking. If the vehicle's Electronic Stability Program (ESP^®) detects understeer while cornering, the system applies the brake to the inside rear wheel, temporarily shifting torque distribution in favor of the outside wheel. This causes the vehicle to gently pivot in compensation, putting it on a line of travel, or vector, better suited to the turn.

Dual-Zone Automatic Climate Control

Separate left and right temperature controls allow the driver and front passenger to enjoy personalized comfort. In addition to fully automatic or manual control of blower speed and airflow distribution, the system includes a dust and pollen filter that helps keep particles as small as 0.0002-inch from entering the cabin.

40/20/40 Split-Folding Rear Seats

The rear seatbacks fold down in a 40/20/40 split, offering a variety of cargo and passenger configurations. You can also fold the center section independently, to fit longer items like skis between two rear passengers. Active Brake Assist

Radar-based technology can alert you if you're approaching a vehicle ahead, or even some stationary objects, at a speed and distance that suggest a collision is likely. As soon as you start to brake, it can automatically provide an appropriate level of braking to help prevent a collision or reduce its severity. If you fail to respond, it can also initiate braking automatically at a range of driving speeds. The system can also detect and react to crossing pedestrians at typical city speeds.

ATTENTION ASSIST^®

The first system of its kind, ATTENTION ASSIST^® continuously monitors up to 70 parameters of driving behavior, and can automatically alert the driver with both visual and audible warnings if it detects signs of drowsiness on long trips. With enhanced sensitivity, the system can also help detect drivers who begin their trip drowsy, and offer more useful information to drivers along their journey via a dashboard display.

PRE-SAFE^®

A Mercedes-Benz first, PRE-SAFE^® can detect instability during certain vehicle maneuvers that suggest a collision or rollover is imminent. It can then tighten the front seat belts, adjust the front passenger seat, and close the windows and sunroof, all in an effort to better prepare the occupants and restraints in the moments before a collision. If no accident occurs, the seat-belt tensioners reverse, and you simply readjust your seat, open the sunroof and continue on your way.

10-Way Air Bag Protection

An advanced system of eight air bags offers 10-way occupant protection. Dual two-stage front air bags, combined thorax/pelvic bags for driver and front passenger, knee air bags for the driver and front passenger, and side curtain air bags for both seating rows are standard.
