4MATIC fully variable all-wheel drive

An advanced version of 4MATIC^® can automatically send from zero to 100% of the engine's torque to either axle, front or rear. A transfer case with a multi-disc clutch can vary the torque distribution based on the driving conditions in the moment. While this allows for precise response to varying surfaces and individual-wheel traction off-road and in inclement weather, it can also enhance cornering in any season by favorably influencing the vehicle's handling.

Dual interior power shades allow occupants to adjust the amount of sunlight entering the cabin. A 50% larger viewing area lets passengers enjoy a greater view of the sun and stars.

LED Intelligent Light System

Pioneered by Mercedes-Benz, active LED headlamps can generate light that's perceived much like natural daylight. Active Curve Illumination and Adaptive Highbeam Assist continuously adjust the beam pattern of the LEDs in each headlamp to help maximize the illumination of corners and straightaways, without creating glare for other drivers. An ULTRA RANGE Highbeam feature is designed to better illuminate the road and the environment along either side.

5-seat cabin configuration

The spacious GLS 600 seats rear-cabin passengers more than an inch higher than the front cabin, taking advantage of the generous headroom to enhance comfort and outward vistas. The active multicontour front seats each feature adjustable lumbar supports, side bolsters and shoulder supports, for custom-tailored support. Active side bolsters can be set to automatically increase lateral support in cornering maneuvers, or even in the event of a potential accident. Six massage programs can soothe and rejuvenate the lower back, including two modes combining massage and heat for a "hot stone" effect worthy of a high-end spa.

12.3-inch touchscreen multimedia display

A widescreen color display with multitouch interface makes it easy to access a world of features, including audio, MB Navigation, phone and vehicle settings. In addition to the three input methods of the standard screen (touchscreen, console touchpad, and Touch Control steering wheel), it also responds to the advanced voice control you activate by saying "Hey, Mercedes." Predictive features can learn and anticipate your commands, while you can save groups of settings as themes and moods.

64-color LED ambient lighting

A network of LEDs let you fine-tune the front and rear-cabin ambience individually. Edge-lighting outlines the dash/door trim and console grips, as well as the Panorama roof, and casts a glow in numerous cabin areas. In the rear cabin, lighting outlines the seatbacks, wood-trimmed rear shelf, and the center armrest or console, and can be controlled by rear passengers. Along with 64 colors and adjustable brightness, numerous programs let you enjoy two colors at once, or slowly changing hues.

Front-cabin wireless charging with NFC pairing

Advanced NFC technology allows wireless charging of a compatible phone or other device that supports the Qi standard. An inductive tray in the console lets you charge your device's battery as you drive, without plugging it in. Pairing your device with the vehicle can be performed by simply holding your device near a pairing point in the console. Once paired, your vehicle can recognize when you enter the car with the device, and quickly establish secure wireless data transfer automatically.

2nd-row MBUX tablet

A 7-inch Android tablet docks in the center console or armrest of the second row. The wireless tablet can be used while docked or handheld to allow any rear-cabin passenger to control numerous MBUX comfort and entertainment functions. In addition, it can operate several rear seat features and the Executive Climate System's rear-cabin settings. The driver can also control features from the front cabin at any time.

Head-Up Display

The Head-Up Display projects a 9.5-inch-wide virtual image that appears to "float" several feet in front of the windshield. The high-resolution readout places useful information in the driver's natural field of vision, with minimal "eyes off the road." The large, full-color graphical display can show the next navigation instruction, driving speed, cruise-control settings and more. Its height adjustment is stored in the seat memory, while the display adapts automatically to ambient light.

Active Lane Keeping Assist

With technology to monitor ordinary road markings above a certain driving speed, Active Lane Keeping Assist can help detect unintended drifting off-course, and alert you by vibrating the steering wheel. If you continue to drift, it can selectively brake individual wheels to help guide the car back into its lane. Enhancements help it to detect and alert you to overtaking vehicles, vehicles you would need to overtake if you change lanes, and even oncoming traffic in the adjacent lane.
