ECO Start/Stop system

An ECO Start/Stop system automatically shuts off the engine at stoplights and other idle situations, to save fuel and reduce emissions. As soon as the driver lifts off the brake, the engine instantly restarts, for quick acceleration response. The ECO Start/Stop system can also be shut off by the driver at any time.

AMG-enhanced 3.0L inline-6 turbo engine with hybrid assist

The seamless power and natural balance of an inline-6 have returned with another Mercedes-AMG tradition: a technological leap forward. The lightweight, fully beltless engine is also electrified: An Integrated Starter-Generator can supply up to 21 hp and 184 lb-ft at certain rpm, allow gas-free coasting, and recapture energy during deceleration. With a twin-scroll turbo, the gas engine outputs 429 hp and 413 lb-ft of torque on its own, for quick, efficient response.

Hybrid Integrated Starter-Generator

Electrifying the inline-6 gasoline engine is an innovative Integrated Starter-Generator. It teams with a 48-volt lithium-ion battery to supply power for formerly belt-driven components like the water pump and air-conditioning compressor. These advancements help reduce weight and enhance underhood packaging. In addition, the electric assist can generate additional, gas-free power and torque for immediate response.

AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive

A specially engineered version of 4MATIC can instantly vary the front-to-rear torque distribution in precise response to driving conditions and driver inputs. It can even send up to 100% to the rear wheels. An electromechanical coupling between the front and rear axles is controlled based on an elaborate matrix of driving mode, lateral and longitudinal acceleration, and available grip to help optimize handling and acceleration right up to the physical limits, on virtually any road or track surface.

For 2024, an emboldened design reasserts its leadership with attention to power, presence and aerodynamics. With its AMG-specific vertical-bar grille and deep front and rear aprons, new LED front and rear lighting, standard 20-inch wheels, body-color fender flares, and four round tailpipes, the GLE 53 SUV commands the road as well as it captivates the eye.

Aluminum roof rails

Sleek and purposeful, the roof rails accommodate a variety of available accessory attachments for carrying bikes, surfboards, skis, snowboards and cargo carriers. They're crafted from elegant aluminum that adds modern style even when you're not using them.

20-inch AMG twin 5-spoke wheels w/black accents

The inlays of the iconic 20-inch AMG^® wheels are painted Gloss Black, setting off the shimmering surfaces and providing an ideal complement to the high-contrast trim of the Night Package. High-performance 275/50R20 tires are fitted.

A dramatically advanced cabin concept pairs fresh technology with fine craftsmanship. Deeply contoured sport front seats flank a console anchored by two prominent grab handles, and face a floating, all-digital dash. A wide swath of trim in a diverse range of finishes sweeps from door to door and features four large center vents with chrome rings. In addition to standard 64-color ambient lighting, options include a giant Panorama roof and 4-zone climate control.

Brushed aluminum trim

Genuine aluminum with a horizontally brushed finish lends a crisp, modern feel to the dash and doors. The console features Piano Black trim.

Air Balance cabin fragrance system

Part of the Air Balance system, a fragrance atomizer offers an extra dimension of cabin ambience. Featuring an elegant, LED-backlit vial in the glovebox and its own ductwork, any of several distinctive yet subtle aromas is gently atomized into the cabin at periodic intervals, yet the scent won't linger on cabin surfaces or clothing. The vial is easily replaced when you'd like to change scents.

Infrared-remote window opening and closing

You can close all open windows and the sunroof from outside the vehicle, simply by holding down the "lock" button on the SmartKey remote while aiming it at the infrared sensor in the driver's door handle. If equipped with ventilated seats, opening the windows pre-activates that feature as well.

Burmester Surround Sound System

One of the most respected makers of handcrafted high-end home audio, Germany's Burmester^® has developed a surround-sound system specifically for the GLE. Thirteen high-quality speakers including twin FrontBass^® subwoofers and a 590-watt 9-channel digital amplifier can fill the cabin with pure digital surround sound while seamlessly compensating for ambient noise. Exquisitely detailed metal speaker grilles are as rewarding to the eyes as the system's output is to the most discerning ears.

12.3-inch digital instrument cluster display

A 12.3-inch high-resolution color screen in front of the driver offers customizable instrumentation. Selectable designs such as Classic, Sport and Discreet, combine analog-style gauges with digital and graphical readouts. They all also incorporate a multifunction screen with illustrated and animated menus, plus readouts for vehicle information, feature settings and driver-assistance systems. It's easy to scroll through the menus via the left steering-wheel Touch Control Button.

Surround View System

The advanced Surround View System uses cameras in all four directions to compose a single, live overhead view of your immediate surroundings. Displayed on the central in-dash screen during low-speed maneuvers, it can help you avoid obstacles as you negotiate tight spaces, whether you're moving forward or backing up.

PRE-SAFE

A Mercedes-Benz first, PRE-SAFE^® can detect instability during certain vehicle maneuvers that suggest a collision or rollover is imminent. It can then tighten the front seat belts, adjust the front passenger seat, and close the windows and sunroof, all in an effort to better prepare the occupants and restraints in the moments before a collision. If no accident occurs, the seat-belt tensioners reverse, and you simply readjust your seat, open the sunroof and continue on your way.

7 air bags

An advanced system of 7 air bags offers 9-way occupant protection. Dual two-stage front air bags, front side-impact air bags, a driver's knee air bag, and side curtain air bags for both seating rows are standard.

Adaptive braking technology

Adaptive braking technology integrates a suite of advances. If you lift off the accelerator quickly, Predictive Brake Priming can set the pads closer to the discs for more immediate response when you apply the brakes. In the rain, Automatic Brake Drying can periodically apply the brakes just enough to sweep water build-up from the discs. During uphill starts, Hill-Start Assist can help prevent unwanted rollback. And a HOLD feature can make long red lights or stopped traffic a little easier.
