AMG-enhanced 3.0L inline-6 turbo engine with hybrid assist

The seamless power and natural balance of an inline-6 have returned with another Mercedes-AMG tradition: a technological leap forward. The lightweight, fully beltless engine is also electrified: An Integrated Starter-Generator can supply up to 21 hp and 184 lb-ft at certain rpm, allow gas-free coasting, and recapture energy during deceleration. With a twin-scroll turbo and electric auxiliary compressor, the gas engine outputs 429 hp and 384 lb-ft of torque on its own, for quick, efficient response.

ECO Start/Stop system

An ECO Start/Stop system automatically shuts off the engine at stoplights and other idle situations, to help save fuel and reduce emissions. As soon as the driver lifts off the brake, the engine instantly restarts, for quick acceleration response. The ECO Start/Stop system can also be shut off by the driver at any time.

AMG SPEEDSHIFT TCT 9-speed transmission

Specific AMG programming of the 9-speed automatic transmission delivers quicker gear changes in the paddle-shifted Manual mode. In the Comfort, Sport and Sport+ modes of AMG DYNAMIC SELECT, the wide range of closely spaced ratios offers an ideal blend of smooth, efficient performance in virtually every driving situation, from relaxed cruising to quick acceleration. Three overdrive ratios further enhance highway fuel efficiency.

AMG DYNAMIC SELECT

A selector on the console lets you vary the vehicle's performance character to suit a variety of driving situations and surfaces. Six modes (Comfort, Sport, Sport+, Slippery, Trail and Sand) alter the throttle response, suspension settings, steering feel, and gear shifting characteristics including rpm, shift speed and even acoustic qualities. In addition, an "Individual" mode allows you to configure a program of your own.

Panorama roof

Offering sweeping skyward views to 1st- and 2nd-row passengers, this fully functional glass sunroof features a panel that can either tilt up for ventilation or slide back for an open-air feeling. A power interior shade allows occupants to adjust the amount of sunlight entering the cabin. A 50% larger viewing area lets passengers enjoy a greater view of the sun and stars.

LED Daytime Running Lamps and taillamps

Bright white LED Daytime Running Lamps help get the GLE noticed, for added safety and in modern style. Their distinctive angular design accentuates the bold grille and powerful hood. Taillamps feature bright LED brake lamps that illuminate more quickly than conventional lightbulbs.

Power-folding side mirrors

The side mirrors can be folded in at the touch of a button, adding convenience when parked in tight quarters. You can also program the mirrors to fold automatically when you remote-lock the vehicle, then unfold upon unlocking.

Power front seats with memory

Power front seats feature intuitive, seat-shaped controls on the door, plus a 4-way power lumbar support. To set and save your ideal driving position, a memory system for each front seat recalls three stored positions for the seat, plus the positions of the 4-way power steering column and side mirrors for the driver.

Power liftgate

For added convenience in the rain or with an armful of packages, you can fully open and close the liftgate via a switch on the driver's interior door panel or a button on the SmartKey remote. Press a button on the driver's door or the underside of the liftgate and it powers itself closed. A sensor automatically stops the liftgate if it detects an obstruction, and you can set the system to limit the opening height, useful under low ceilings.

HANDS-FREE ACCESS

HANDS-FREE ACCESS lets you power-open or close the trunk with a gentle "kick" of your foot under the rear bumper. It's a convenience you'll really appreciate when you've got an armful of packages.

Remote Start via Mercedes me Mobile App

The Remote Start feature lets you start your car's engine from the Mercedes me Mobile App on your smartphone. In extreme weather, it's a great way to pre-condition the cabin comfort by giving the climate control up to a 10-minute head-start on your arrival. Dual-zone automatic climate control

Separate left and right temperature controls allow the driver and front passenger to enjoy personalized comfort. An advanced system of 7 air bags offers 9-way occupant protection. Dual two-stage front air bags, front side-impact air bags, a driver's knee air bag, and side curtain air bags for both seating rows are standard.

Rain-sensing windshield wipers

Rain-sensing windshield wipers can automatically adjust the intermittent wiper frequency based on the amount of rainfall.

Blind Spot Assist

When traveling above approximately 20 mph, radar technology can help sense when a vehicle enters the blind-spot area. Blind Spot Assist can then alert the driver via an illuminated red icon in the appropriate side mirror. An audible warning sounds if the driver activates a turn signal while a vehicle is detected in the blind spot. After parking, enhancements can also alert the driver or passengers to vehicles, cyclists or pedestrians that could be at risk if the door is opened.

PRE-SAFE

A Mercedes-Benz first, PRE-SAFE® can detect instability during certain vehicle maneuvers that suggest a collision or rollover is imminent. It can then tighten the front seat belts, adjust the front passenger seat, and close the windows and sunroof, all in an effort to better prepare the occupants and restraints in the moments before a collision. If no accident occurs, the seat-belt tensioners reverse, and you simply readjust your seat, open the sunroof and continue on your way.
