AMG SPEEDSHIFT TCT 9-speed transmission

Specific AMG programming of the 9-speed automatic transmission delivers quicker gear changes in the paddle-shifted Manual mode. In the Comfort, Sport and Sport+ modes of DYNAMIC SELECT, the wide range of closely spaced ratios offers an ideal blend of smooth, efficient performance in virtually every driving situation, from relaxed cruising to quick acceleration. Two overdrive ratios further enhance highway fuel efficiency.

AMG DYNAMIC SELECT

A multimode drive program selector on the console lets you transform the car's character with the flip of a switch. Four preset modes (Slippery, Comfort, Sport and Sport+) alter the throttle response, shift points, air suspension parameters, steering effort, and ECO Start/Stop. A fifth "Individual" mode allows you to create a mode of your own, even letting you set the transmission for purely manual shifting.

AMG-enhanced 3.0L V6 biturbo engine

A 385-hp 3.0L V6 biturbo engine features numerous AMG enhancements for instant response. Increased turbo boost puts its 384 lb-ft of torque on tap from 2,500 to 4,500 rpm, for a 0-60 time of just 4.7 seconds. Rapid-multispark ignition and high-pressure Direct Injection act with millisecond speed and molecular precision. Beneath its red engine cover, a lightweight diecast-alloy block, variable valve timing and reduced friction further raise efficiency and performance.

AMG Sport Exhaust System

The AMG Sport Exhaust System not only enhances performance but also generates the characteristic sound signature of AMG. A pleasingly subtle exhaust note assures relaxed, quiet cruising, while acceleration and higher revs are accompanied by a rewardingly throaty growl from the four polished-chrome tailpipes.

Power tilt/sliding sunroof

At the touch of a button, the tinted glass sunroof tilts up at the rear for ventilation, or slides open for a breezy view of the sky. An express feature fully opens or closes the roof with a single touch, and a manual sliding sunshade helps block out unwanted sunlight.

Heated front seats

Electrically heated front seats quickly take the chill out of even the coldest day. Three levels of warming automatically step down after several minutes to the lowest setting.

40/20/40-split rear seats with power folding

The rear seatbacks fold down in a 40/20/40 split, letting you to expand the cargo capacity of your GLC in a variety of configurations, up to 49.4 cu ft. Pushbuttons in the cargo area power-fold the left and right seatbacks in a 60/40 split. You can also fold the center section independently, to fit longer items like skis between two rear passengers. The seatbacks can also be locked in a slightly more upright position, expanding the cargo area while still seating three rear passengers.

HANDS-FREE ACCESS

Even more convenient than the standard power liftgate, HANDS-FREE ACCESS lets you open or close the liftgate with a gentle "kick" of your foot under the rear bumper. It's a convenience you'll really appreciate when you've got an armful of packages.

Steering-wheel with Touch Control Buttons

Innovative Touch Controls elevate the multifunction steering wheel to an unparalleled level of user-friendliness. In addition to fingertip buttons for features like audio, Bluetooth^® and cruise control, smartphone-like pads offer direct control of nearly every cockpit feature. Swiping through menus is easy: Your left thumb operates the menu screen in the gauge cluster, and your right thumb controls the large central screen without taking your hands from the wheel's leather-wrapped rim.

In addition to its thick, contoured and Nappa leather-wrapped rim, the AMG performance steering wheel incorporates large, perforated leather side grips and a flat-bottom design. A 12 o'clock band is stitched into the top of the wheel, to quickly reveal the straight-ahead position.

Touchpad controller

A large touchpad controller on the console lets you operate the in-dash central touchscreen while your hand rests comfortably at your side. The large touchpad works a lot like your smartphone, including multitouch gestures like swiping through menus and pinching to zoom. The touchpad surface includes dedicated Back, Skip and Home virtual keys, and even recognizes handwriting. Adjacent one-touch hard keys access major functions and include a programmable "favorite" button.

Blind Spot Assist with Exit Warning Assist

When traveling above approximately 20 mph, radar technology can help sense when a vehicle enters the blind-spot area. Blind Spot Assist can then alert the driver via an illuminated red icon in the appropriate side mirror. An audible warning sounds if the driver activates a turn signal while a vehicle is detected in the blind spot. After parking, Exit Warning Assist can alert the driver or passengers to vehicles, cyclists or pedestrians that could be at risk if the door is opened.

Adaptive Highbeam Assist

Adaptive Highbeam Assist can automatically activate the high beams when camera technology detects there are no vehicles within range ahead of you.

PRE-SAFE

A Mercedes-Benz first, PRE-SAFE^® can detect instability during certain vehicle maneuvers that suggest a collision or rollover is imminent. It can then tighten the front seat belts, adjust the front passenger seat, and close the windows and sunroof, all in an effort to better prepare the occupants and restraints in the moments before a collision. If no accident occurs, the seat-belt tensioners reverse, and you simply readjust your seat, open the sunroof and continue on your way.

An advanced system of 7 air bags offers 9-way occupant protection. Dual two-stage front air bags, combined thorax/pelvic bags for driver and front passenger, a driver's knee air bag, and side curtain air bags for both seating rows are standard.
