3.0L inline-6 turbo engine with mild hybrid drive

The seamless power and natural balance of an inline-6 have returned to the Three-Pointed Star with another Mercedes-Benz tradition: a technological leap forward. The lightweight, fully beltless engine is also electrified: An Integrated Starter-Generator can supply up to 23 hp, allow fuel-free coasting, and recapture energy during deceleration. With a twin-scroll turbo and electric auxiliary compressor, the gas engine outputs 442 hp and 413 lb-ft of torque on its own, for swift response.

ECO Start/Stop system

A fuel-saving ECO Start/Stop system automatically shuts off the engine at stoplights and other idle situations. As soon as the driver lifts off the brake, the engine instantly restarts, for immediate acceleration response. The ECO Start/Stop system can also be shut off by the driver at any time.

9G-TRONIC automatic transmission

With a greater range of ratios and shorter steps between gears, the 9-speed automatic changes gears more quickly but nearly imperceptibly. Along with a more seamless delivery of power, the lighter, more versatile transmission enhances quiet riding comfort and fuel-efficiency. Active Brake Assist with Cross-Traffic Function

At certain in-town driving speeds, radar and advanced cameras can scan the area ahead of the vehicle to help detect a potential collision with vehicles approaching or crossing from either side of an intersection ahead, or with a pedestrian in the car's path. When the driver responds to the system's alert by braking, it can precisely apply brake force to help prevent such an accident or help reduce its severity. If it senses a pedestrian in your path, the system can automatically apply the brakes.

GUARD 360° security system

GUARD 360°^® offers enhanced vehicle security beyond the standard antitheft alarm. It can help detect if your parked vehicle experiences certain impact types likely to cause damage. The Surround View cameras can photograph the area around the car's exterior, taking multiple time-stamped images which can be viewed in the car's multimedia display or via the Mercedes me connect app on your phone. It can also push a damage notification via the app, and display a message the next time you start the car.

ATTENTION ASSIST

The first system of its kind, ATTENTION ASSIST^® continuously monitors up to 70 parameters of driving behavior, and can automatically alert the driver with both visual and audible warnings if it detects signs of drowsiness on long trips. With enhanced sensitivity, the system can also help detect drivers who begin their trip drowsy, and offer more useful information to drivers along their journey via a dashboard display.

PRE-SAFE

A Mercedes-Benz first, PRE-SAFE^® can detect instability during certain vehicle maneuvers that suggest a collision or rollover is imminent. It can then tighten the front seat belts, adjust the front passenger seat, and close the windows and sunroof, all in an effort to better prepare the occupants and restraints in the moments before a collision. If no accident occurs, the seat-belt tensioners reverse, and you simply readjust your seat, open the sunroof and continue on your way.
