2.0L inline-4 turbo engine

The 255-hp 2.0L inline-4 turbo engine combines numerous advances to deliver more power from less fuel. Its rapid-multispark ignition and high-pressure Direct Injection can fine-tune themselves every few milliseconds to optimize performance, efficiency and emissions. An intercooled twin-scroll turbocharger and CAMTRONIC variable valve lift help deliver all of the engine's 273 lb-ft of torque from just 1,800 rpm, for vigorous response when taking off, merging or passing.

ECO Start/Stop system

An ECO Start/Stop system automatically shuts off the engine at stoplights and other idle situations, to save fuel and reduce emissions. As soon as the driver lifts off the brake, the engine instantly restarts, for quick acceleration response. The ECO Start/Stop system can also be shut off by the driver at any time.

Adaptive braking technology

Adaptive braking technology integrates a suite of advances. If you lift off the accelerator quickly, Predictive Brake Priming can set the pads closer to the discs for more immediate response when you apply the brakes. In the rain, Automatic Brake Drying can periodically apply the brakes just enough to sweep water build-up from the discs. During uphill starts, Hill-Start Assist can help prevent unwanted rollback. And a HOLD feature can make long red lights or stopped traffic a little easier.

Selective damping suspension

Engineered specifically for performance driving, the 4-wheel independent suspension's selective damping automatically adjusts the individual shock absorbers based on the road surface and the driver's current driving style. Valving inside each shock absorber automatically firms up during stronger body motions for sharper handling feedback and stability, and reduces the damping rates during gentler motions for a smoother, more composed ride.

Using GPS technology and a fast hard drive to store maps and points of interest, this virtual copilot provides detailed driving directions with remarkable speed and a friendly voice. The 12.3-inch high-resolution color touchscreen displays 3D maps with building profiles. Operation is made easy by a choice of four input methods, including your natural voice, so finding a Point of Interest can be as easy as saying "Hey, Mercedes, I'm hungry."

12.3-inch digital instrument cluster display

A 12.3-inch high-resolution color screen in front of the driver offers customizable instrumentation. Four selectable designs, Classic, Sport, Progressive and Understated, combine analog-style gauges with digital and graphical readouts. They all also incorporate a large multifunction screen with illustrated and animated menus, plus readouts for vehicle information, feature settings and driver-assistance systems. It's easy to scroll through the menus via the left steering-wheel Touch Control Button.

Touchpad controller

A large touchpad controller on the console lets you operate the in-dash central touchscreen while your hand rests comfortably at your side. The large touchpad works a lot like your smartphone, including multitouch gestures like swiping through menus and pinching to zoom. The touchpad surface includes dedicated Back, Skip and Home virtual keys, and even recognizes handwriting. Adjacent one-touch hard keys access major functions and include a programmable "favorite" button.

Retractable luggage cover

A retractable cover helps shield your cargo or shopping bags from sunlight and prying eyes. The cover is retractable with one hand, or can be removed entirely and stowed under the cargo floor, for maximum cargo space with the seats folded.

Power front seats with driver-seat memory

Power front seats feature intuitive, seat-shaped controls on the door, plus a 4-way power lumbar support for the driver. To set and save your ideal driving position, a memory system for the driver seat recalls three stored positions for the seat, plus the positions of the 4-way power steering column and side mirrors.

Power liftgate

For added convenience in the rain or with an armful of packages, you can fully open and close the liftgate via a switch on the driver's interior door panel or a button on the SmartKey remote. Press a button on the driver's door or the underside of the liftgate and it powers itself closed. A sensor automatically stops the liftgate if it detects an obstruction, and you can set the system to limit the opening height, useful under low ceilings.

Parking Damage Detector

While your vehicle is parked, an innovative system can detect if it experiences certain types of impacts that are likely to cause damage to it, such as being struck by another car. The system can push a notification to your phone via the Mercedes me connect app, and can display a notification message the next time you start the car. It will even offer an easy connection to the Mercedes-Benz Customer Assistance Center to help you make a repair appointment.

Antitheft alarm system with remote panic feature

The standard antitheft alarm system is armed automatically when you lock your Mercedes from the outside. It can sound the horn and flash the exterior lights if a door, the liftgate, or the hood is opened without first unlocking the vehicle. You can also sound the alarm by pressing the red "panic" button on your SmartKey remote when you're within range of your vehicle.

Blind Spot Assist

When traveling above approximately 20 mph, radar technology can help sense when a vehicle enters the blind-spot area. Blind Spot Assist can then alert the driver via an illuminated red icon in the appropriate side mirror. An audible warning sounds if the driver activates a turn signal while a vehicle is detected in the blind spot. After parking, enhancements can also alert the driver or passengers to vehicles, cyclists or pedestrians that could be at risk if the door is opened.

An advanced system of 7 air bags offers 9-way occupant protection. Dual two-stage front air bags, front side-impact air bags, a driver's knee air bag, and side curtain air bags for both seating rows are standard.
