AMG-enhanced 2.0L inline-4 turbo engine with hybrid assist

A 302-hp 2.0L inline-4 turbo engine features numerous AMG enhancements for instant response. Rapid-multispark ignition and high-pressure Direct Injection team with a liquid-cooled turbo to put its 295 lb-ft of torque on tap at just 3,000 rpm, and deliver 60 mph just 4.8 seconds. New 48-volt architecture and a belt-driven Starter-Generator can supply up to 13 hp for added response on demand. Beneath its red-striped engine cover, a lightweight diecast-alloy block, variable valve timing and reduced friction further raise efficiency and performance.

ECO Start/Stop system

An ECO Start/Stop system automatically shuts off the engine at stoplights and other idle situations, to save fuel and reduce emissions. As soon as the driver lifts off the brake, the engine instantly restarts, for immediate acceleration response. The ECO Start/Stop system can also be shut off by the driver at any time.

AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 8-speed dual-clutch transmission

The 8-speed DCT combines racing-derived dual-clutch design with AMG SPEEDSHIFT^® technology. Able to change gears faster than a human can shift a traditional manual gearbox, its shift paddles and rev-matched downshifts provide instant response. In addition to a Manual mode and RACE START launch function, the various modes of AMG DYNAMIC SELECT offer distinctive accelerator and gearshift characteristics. Carbon fiber friction linings optimize the response and durability of its fast-acting synchros.

3-stage Electronic Stability Program (ESP)

Multistage ESP offers a mode for every driving situation: On, Sport and Off. With ESP On, detected instability results in braking intervention at one or more wheels, plus a reduction in engine torque, to help rotate the car back onto the driver's intended course. Sport mode allows for higher drift angles in performance driving, raising the brake-intervention and torque-reduction thresholds. ESP Off removes intervention altogether, making the results a direct expression of the driver's skill.

A new vertical-bar grille, sculpted front air dam, flared side sills and deep rear valance team with 18-inch or optional 19-inch AMG^® wheels for a gripping appearance befitting the car's handling. The front apron's outer air intakes feature black slats and flics, to channel air to the running gear and around to the shapely side sills. Dual round chrome tailpipes punctuate a deep rear valance with a black diffuser insert. A wind-tunnel-shaped rear spoiler spans the trailing edge of the trunklid.

The release handles are in the trunk, so they're conveniently located where you'll need them, and can be kept out of reach simply by valet-locking the trunk.

Active Brake Assist

Radar-based technology can alert you if you're approaching a vehicle ahead, or even some stationary objects, at a speed and distance that suggest a collision is likely. As soon as you start to brake, it can automatically provide an appropriate level of braking to help prevent a collision or reduce its severity. If you fail to respond, it can also initiate braking automatically at a range of driving speeds. The system can also help detect and react to crossing pedestrians at typical city speeds.

8 air bags

An advanced system of 8 air bags offers 10-way occupant protection. Standard are dual two-stage front air bags, combined thorax/pelvic bags, and knee air bags for the driver and front passenger, plus side curtain air bags for both seating rows.
