Rear 265kW permanently synchronous electric motor

Smooth, quiet and rich in torque, the EQS 450+ SUV is powered by an advanced 265kW electric motor that can send up to 355 hp and 419 lb-ft of torque to the rear wheels. The "permanently excited synchronous motor" (PSM) features permanent magnets to generate AC current with high power density and efficiency. An advanced cooling system helps maintain its high-performance consistency during spirited driving and a wide range of climates.

DYNAMIC SELECT

A multimode drive program selector on the console lets you transform the car's character with the flip of a switch. Three modes (ECO, Comfort and Sport) alter the drivetrain response, steering effort, and AIRMATIC^® suspension. A fourth "Individual" mode allows you to create a mode of your own.

Advanced 118-kWh EV battery

Advanced battery technology in the EQS offers significantly higher energy density. The high-voltage battery's usable energy content of 118 kWh is managed by innovative software, developed by Mercedes-Benz, that can be updated over the air, without a dealer visit, to help it stay up-to-date throughout its lifespan.

AIRMATIC suspension

For a balanced, comfortable ride, the AIRMATIC^® semi-active suspension employs electronically controlled air springs that adjust to changing driving conditions. Components are engineered to offer quick response with light system weight. AIRMATIC's automatic 4-wheel level control helps compensate for additional cargo or passengers. It can also lower the ride height at higher speeds for improved aerodynamics, stability and efficiency, or raise it up to an inch for added ground clearance.

LED DIGITAL LIGHT headlamps w/lightband

Pioneered by Mercedes-Benz, active LED headlamps can generate light that's perceived much like natural daylight. Along with Active Curve Illumination and Ultra Wide Highbeams, DIGITAL LIGHT technology can project visual alerts into the driver's view. During automatic highbeam use, a variety of icons can appear on the illuminated roadway, to help alert you to detected construction zones, pedestrians, lane drift, or following too closely.

Panorama roof

Offering both front- and rear-seat passengers sweeping skyward views, this fully functional glass sunroof features a front panel that can either tilt up for ventilation or slide over the rear panel for an open-air feeling. Dual interior power shades with controls allow the driver and each rear passenger to adjust the amount of sunlight entering the cabin.

4-zone automatic climate control

Four individual temperature controls offer personalized comfort to the front and rear cabins. In addition to fully automatic or manual control of blower speed and airflow distribution, the system includes sun and humidity sensors, a dust/pollen filter, and an activated charcoal filter that automatically recirculates cabin air upon detecting a significant increase in smog. The system also detects seat-belt usage and focuses first on areas of the cabin where occupants are seated.

Steering wheel with Touch Control Buttons

Innovative Touch Controls elevate the multifunction steering wheel to an unparalleled level of user-friendliness. Finger-sensitive buttons access features like audio, Bluetooth^® and cruise control. Four smartphone-like pads offer direct control of countless cockpit features. The upper touchpads operate the menu screen in the gauge cluster or the central multimedia display. Larger, lower touchpads let you vary your cruising speed or adjust the audio volume, all with your hands on the wheel.

Front-cabin wireless charging with NFC pairing

Near-Field Communication (NFC) technology allows wireless charging of a compatible phone or other device that supports the Qi standard. An inductive charging tray in the front-cabin console lets you charge your device's battery while you drive without plugging it in.

MBUX Hyperscreen

A major achievement in automotive displays, the Hyperscreen unites a 12.3-inch LED instrument cluster, and two Organic LED (OLED) touchscreens measuring 17.7 inches and 12.3 inches behind a single 56-inch span of high-strength, fingerprint-and scratch-resistant aluminum-silicate glass. Features include a dozen haptic actuators to provide tactile feedback for key controls, and an innovative "zero-layer" menu concept. Eye-tracking and light-sensing abilities enhance ease of viewing.

Heated power front seats with memory

Intuitive, and artfully sculpted, seat-shaped controls help you and your front passenger find your ideal seating positions with 12-way power adjustment, including cushion length. A memory system for each front seat recalls three stored seat positions with the touch of a button. The driver-seat memory also includes the power steering column and side mirror positions. Standard heating with automatic timed step-down adds soothing, controlled comfort in cool weather.

PRE-SAFE

A Mercedes-Benz first, PRE-SAFE^® can detect instability during certain vehicle maneuvers that suggest a collision or rollover is imminent. It can then tighten the front seat belts, adjust the front passenger seat, and close the windows and sunroof, all in an effort to better prepare the occupants and restraints in the moments before a collision. If no accident occurs, the seat-belt tensioners reverse, and you simply readjust your seat, open the sunroof and continue on your way.

Active Brake Assist with Cross-Traffic Function

At certain in-town driving speeds, radar and advanced cameras can scan the area ahead of the vehicle to help detect a potential collision with vehicles approaching or crossing from either side of an intersection ahead, or with a pedestrian in the car's path. When the driver responds to the system's alert by braking, it can precisely apply brake force to help prevent such an accident or help reduce its severity. If it senses a pedestrian in your path, the system can automatically apply the brakes.

Acoustic Vehicle Alert System

At speeds below approximately 20 mph, special sound generators in the front and rear of the vehicle emit an EQ-specific sound to help pedestrians notice its approach. The sound changes volume and pitch as speed increases, starting to fade above 12 mph as natural rolling noises overtake the need. The system can also emit a widely recognized repeating tone when Reverse gear is selected at any speed.

Active Lane Keeping Assist

With technology to monitor ordinary road markings above a certain driving speed, Active Lane Keeping Assist can help detect unintended drifting off-course, and alert you by vibrating the steering wheel. If you continue to drift, it can selectively brake individual wheels to help guide the car back. Enhancements help it alert you to overtaking vehicles, vehicles you'd need to overtake if you change lanes, and even traffic in the adjacent lane or along the road edge for safer evasive moves.
