As soon as the driver lifts off the brake, the engine instantly restarts, for immediate acceleration response. The ECO Start/Stop system can also be shut off by the driver at any time.

9G-TRONIC automatic transmission with shift paddles.

With a greater range of ratios and shorter steps between gears, the 9-speed automatic changes gears more quickly yet more smoothly, too. The lighter, more versatile transmission enhances quiet riding comfort and fuel-efficiency. Sport tuning of the springs and shock absorbers teams with optimized kinematics and a 15-mm lower ride height to deliver more precise handling response. Sport steering is tuned for even greater precision and feedback. Yet even with its highly agile cornering, ride comfort remains silky, a benefit of the car's long wheelbase and extremely rigid body structure.

Torque Vectoring Brake.

Standard Torque Vectoring Brake technology provides additional control and precision in turns via targeted rear-wheel braking. If the vehicle's Electronic Stability Program (ESP^®) detects understeer while cornering, the system applies the brake to the inside rear wheel, temporarily shifting torque distribution in favor of the outside wheel. This can help the vehicle to gently pivot in compensation, putting it on a line of travel, or vector, better suited to the turn.

The next generation of driving ease.

Standard Blind Spot Assist helps make driving or even exiting the car safer. Available assists let you change lanes with a tap of your finger. Slow your cruising speed for an offramp. And look out for danger ahead, even if it's coming from behind.

PRE-SAFE.

A Mercedes-Benz first, PRE-SAFE^® can detect instability during certain vehicle maneuvers that suggest a collision or rollover is imminent. It can then tighten the front seat belts, adjust the front passenger seat, and close the windows and sunroof, all in an effort to better prepare the occupants and restraints in the moments before a collision. If no accident occurs, the seat-belt tensioners reverse, and you simply readjust your seat, open the sunroof and continue on your way.

LED headlamps and taillamps.

With longer life, quicker illumination and beams that approximate daylight even more closely than xenon headlamps, multi-element LED headlamps enhance both vision and visibility during nighttime driving. Bright white LED Daytime Running Lamps and all other front light functions are integrated within the flowing sculpture of the headlamp assemblies, making the design as appealing as it is illuminating. Taillamps feature a distinctive C-shaped LED design plus LED turn signals and brake lamps.

Rearview camera.

For a better view of what's behind your vehicle when reversing, a high-resolution camera displays a live view on the central in-dash screen. Steering-dependent active guidelines on the screen can help you back into a parking space, and you can select between wide-angle and even wider 180-degree views.

8 air bags.

An advanced system of 8 air bags offers 10-way occupant protection. Standard are dual two-stage front air bags, combined thorax/pelvic bags, and knee air bags for the driver and front passenger, plus side curtain air bags for both seating rows. Side-impact air bags are also standard for each outboard rear seating position.

Antilock Braking System (ABS).

The Antilock Braking System (ABS) can sense impending wheel lockup under heavy braking, and pump the front brakes individually or the rear brakes together up to 30 times per second. By preventing wheel lockup, ABS helps preserve the driver's steering ability during hard braking.

Aluminum and high-strength steel body structure.

Greater use of aluminum helps the body shell of the C-Class Coupe elevate its overall rigidity, occupant protection and acousting qualities while reducing weight, even with a significant increase in cabin space. Along with high-strength and ultrahigh-strength steel, the front fenders, hood, doors and trunklid are made of aluminum. Strategic reinforcements are made of diecast, extruded and stamped aluminum, as well as heat-treated steel and laser-welded, varying-thickness steel.

Electronic Stability Program (ESP).

This safety breakthrough first introduced by Mercedes-Benz continually monitors your driving inputs and the vehicle's motion to help keep it going in your intended direction, especially in corners and during evasive maneuvers. If it detects wheelspin, severe understeer (plowing), or oversteer (fishtailing), ESP^® can brake individual wheels and reduce engine power to help bring the vehicle under control.
