AMG-specific dual electric motors can deliver 617 hp and 701 lb-ft of torque to all four wheels. The "permanently excited synchronous motors" (PSMs) feature enhanced windings, actuators and programming for higher rpm, and thus quicker acceleration and higher top speed. The six-phase rear motor is especially powerful. AMG-specific cooling helps maintain consistent response during performance driving and varying climates. A RACE START option can briefly boost output up to 677 hp and 738 lb-ft.

AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive

An electro-specific development of the acclaimed AMG all-wheel drive system can continuously distribute torque to all four wheels with infinite front/rear-axle variability. Markedly quicker in response than mechanical AWD and virtually weightless, the system can calculate and adjust the torque split 10,000 times per minute. The Comfort mode of AMG DYNAMIC SELECT emphasizes efficiency and range while the Sport and Sport+ modes emphasize driving dynamics with a greater rear-axle bias.

AMG high-performance compound brake system

Using principles proven in racing, the braking components are engineered for enduring stopping power in high-performance driving. All four wheels feature perforated and ventilated discs. Intelligent Energy Recovery with paddles

Paddles on the steering wheel let you vary the intensity of energy recuperated by deceleration and braking during normal driving. Three levels of recuperation are selectable: normal, increased (which can allow one-pedal driving), and none (effectively coasting when you let off the driving pedal). A "D Auto" setting can activate the intelligent ECO Assist feature.

Biometric authentication

You can personalize up to 800 vehicle settings, from music programming to seat comfort, and save them in any of seven user profiles. Features can even be set up via the Mercedes-Benz app, when you're away from the car. You can log into your in-car profile with the in-dash fingerprint reader, via the Hyperscreen's facial recognition, or by using your Mercedes me PIN. Profiles can even be used in multiple cars.

12.3-inch digital instrument cluster

A 12.3-inch high-resolution color display, embedded in the MBUX Hyperscreen, offers customizable instrumentation. Selectable AMG-specific designs combine analog-style gauges with digital and graphical readouts tailored exclusively for electric performance driving. Illustrated and animated menus include readouts for vehicle information, feature settings and driver-assistance systems. It's easy to scroll through the menus via the left steering-wheel Touch Control Button.

Power liftgate

For added convenience in the rain or with an armful of packages, you can fully open and close the liftgate via a switch on the driver's interior door panel or a button on the SmartKey remote. Press a button on the driver's door or the underside of the liftgate and it powers itself closed. A sensor automatically stops the liftgate if it detects an obstruction, and you can set the system to limit the opening height, useful under low ceilings.

PARKTRONIC with Active Parking Assist

Active Parking Assist can search for suitable parallel or perpendicular parking spaces to either side as you drive by. Choose a space to pull or back into, and it can expertly shift, steer and brake for you. When it's time to leave, it can also steer you back out. In any low-speed maneuver, PARKTRONIC sensors in the front and rear bumpers help detect nearby objects within their field of view. Audible signals and illuminated displays in the cabin help you navigate tight spaces with confidence.

Active Lane Keeping Assist

With technology to monitor ordinary road markings above a certain driving speed, Active Lane Keeping Assist can help detect unintended drifting off-course, and alert you by vibrating the steering wheel. If you continue to drift, it can selectively brake individual wheels to help guide the car back. Enhancements help it alert you to overtaking vehicles, vehicles you'd need to overtake if you change lanes, and even traffic in the adjacent lane or along the road edge for safer evasive moves.

Front and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert w/pedestrian detection and automatic braking

Using the ultrasonic sensors of Active Parking Assist and multiple cameras, this system can help audibly and visually alert the driver to approaching cross-traffic or pedestrians when backing or pulling out of a parking space at low speed. Especially helpful if your view is obstructed by vehicles or structures, the system can also apply the brakes. The sensors can also help detect if the driver has engaged the wrong gear or pedal for exiting a confined space.
