2.0L inline-4 turbo engine with mild hybrid drive

Mild hybrid electrification advances the 255-hp 2.0L inline-4 turbo engine. A 48-volt Integrated Starter-Generator allows fuel-free coasting, and can recapture energy during deceleration. It can also supply up to 20 hp and 148 lb-ft of torque for added response on demand. And the gasoline engine is further enhanced with a more efficient turbocharger, CAMTRONIC variable valve lift, and friction-reducing CONICSHAPE cylinders with NANOSLIDE walls.

Hybrid Integrated Starter-Generator

Electrifying the inline-4 gasoline engine is an innovative Integrated Starter-Generator. It teams with a 48-volt lithium-ion battery to supply power for some formerly belt-driven components such as the water pump, reducing weight and enhancing underhood packaging. In addition, the electric assist can generate additional, gas-free power and torque (up to 20 hp and 148 lb-ft) for immediate response.

9G-TRONIC automatic transmission with shift paddles

With a greater range of ratios and shorter steps between gears, the 9-speed automatic changes gears more quickly yet more smoothly. Along with a more seamless delivery of power, the lighter, more versatile transmission enhances quiet riding comfort and fuel-efficiency. The electronic selector and shift paddles let you control all gear changes with your hands on the steering wheel. And drivers can vary the shift modes via the innovative DYNAMIC SELECT system.

DYNAMIC SELECT

A multimode drive program selector on the console lets you dial in the vehicle's performance character and hybrid energy management. DYNAMIC SELECT offers five preset modes: Hybrid, Electric, Battery Level, Sport and Off-Road, plus an Individual mode you can configure a la carte. Each mode adapts the TBD, with Off-Road tailored for dirt, gravel and sand.

Power tilt/sliding sunroof

At the touch of a button, the tinted glass sunroof tilts up at the rear for ventilation, or slides open for a breezy view of the sky. An express feature fully opens or closes the roof with a single touch, and a manual sliding sunshade helps block out unwanted sunlight.

LED headlamps

With longer life, instant illumination and beams that approximate daylight even more closely than xenon headlamps, LED headlamps can enhance both vision and visibility during nighttime driving. Bright white LED Daytime Running Lamps and all other front light functions are integrated within the flowing sculpture of the headlamp assemblies, making them as appealing as they are illuminating.

64-color LED ambient lighting

A network of LEDs let you create cabin ambience to suit your mood. Edge-lighting outlines the dash/door trim and console grips, and casts a glow in the footwells, door handles and door pockets. Innovative Touch Controls elevate the multifunction steering wheel to an unparalleled level of user-friendliness. Finger-sensitive buttons access features like audio, Bluetooth^® and cruise control. Four smartphone-like pads offer direct control of countless cockpit features. The upper touchpads operate the menu screen in the gauge cluster or the central multimedia display. Larger, lower touchpads let you vary your cruising speed or adjust the audio volume, all with your hands on the wheel.

Retractable luggage cover

A retractable cover helps shield your cargo or shopping bags from sunlight and prying eyes. The cover is retractable with one hand, or can be removed entirely and stowed under the cargo floor, for maximum cargo space with the seats folded.

Touchpad controller

A large touchpad controller on the console lets you operate the in-dash central touchscreen while your hand rests comfortably at your side. The large touchpad works a lot like your smartphone, including multitouch gestures like swiping through menus and pinching to zoom. The touchpad surface includes dedicated Back, Skip and Home virtual keys, and even recognizes handwriting. Adjacent one-touch hard keys access major functions and include a programmable "favorite" button.

12.3-inch touchscreen multimedia display

A widescreen color display with multitouch interface makes it easy to access a world of features, including audio, MB Navigation, phone and vehicle settings. In addition to the three input methods of the standard screen (touchscreen, console touchpad, and Touch Control steering wheel), it also responds to the advanced voice control you activate by saying "Hey, Mercedes." Predictive features can learn and anticipate your commands, while you can save groups of settings as themes and moods.

Front-cabin wireless charging with NFC pairing

Near-Field Communication (NFC) technology allows wireless charging of a compatible phone or other device that supports the Qi standard. An inductive charging tray in the front-cabin console lets you charge your device's battery while you drive without plugging it in.

Power front seats with memory

Power front seats feature intuitive, seat-shaped controls on the door, plus a 4-way power lumbar support. To set and save your ideal driving position, a memory system for each front seat recalls three stored positions for the seat, plus the positions of the 4-way power steering column and side mirrors for the driver.

Surround View System

The advanced Surround View System uses cameras in all four directions to compose a single, live overhead view of your immediate surroundings. Displayed on the central in-dash screen during low-speed maneuvers, it can help you avoid obstacles as you negotiate tight spaces, whether you're moving forward or backing up.

Active Brake Assist

Radar-based technology can alert you if you're approaching a vehicle ahead, or even some stationary objects, at a speed and distance that suggest a collision is likely. As soon as you start to brake, it can automatically provide an appropriate level of braking to help prevent a collision or reduce its severity. If you fail to respond, it can also initiate braking automatically at a range of driving speeds. The system can also help detect and react to crossing pedestrians at typical city speeds.

Blind Spot Assist with Exit Warning Assist

When traveling above approximately 8 mph, radar technology can help sense when a vehicle enters the blind-spot area. Blind Spot Assist can then help alert the driver via an illuminated red icon in the appropriate side mirror. An audible warning sounds if the driver activates a turn signal while a vehicle is detected in the blind spot. After parking, Exit Warning Assist can alert the driver or passengers to vehicles, cyclists or pedestrians that could be at risk if the door is opened.

PRE-SAFE

A Mercedes-Benz first, PRE-SAFE^® can detect instability during certain vehicle maneuvers that suggest a collision or rollover is imminent. It can then tighten the front seat belts, adjust the front passenger seat, and close the windows and sunroof, all in an effort to better prepare the occupants and restraints in the moments before a collision. If no accident occurs, the seat-belt tensioners reverse, and you simply readjust your seat, open the sunroof and continue on your way.
